New gTLDs Currently Running
Donuts’ new gTLD .PHOTOGRAPHY, which entered into its General Availability phase on 12 February, has become the second-largest new gTLD after .GURU, according to DomainIncite.PHOTOGRAPHY had 8,878 domains, compared with 27,698 for .GURU and 6,524 for .BIKE.

Registry operator GMO Registry, Inc. has announced the launch of its new GeoTLD .NAGOYA, for the city of Nagoya, Japan, into Sunrise as follows:

During the Sunrise period, trademark rights holders may register their domain names for a one-year term, provided that the term applied for is in the Trademark Clearinghouse (TMCH), with multiple applications for the same domain resulting in an auction. It is not possible to register trademarks that contain mixed scripts (a combination of IDN and non-IDN characters) during the Sunrise period.

Multiple applications for the same domain during the Landrush period will result in an auction, while domains registered under General Availability will be available to everyone on a first-come, first-served basis for a registration term of 1-10 years.

Domains will be available in both Japanese (Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji scripts), as well as ASCII characters. The names of wards, cities, towns, and villages in Nagoya; strings related to tourism and transportation in Nagoya; and some other names will initially be reserved.

The following Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) are available for Donuts new gTLDs:

  • English, French, Spanish in all Latin TLDs except for German
  • English, French, Spanish, and German in the German TLDs
  • English and Chinese only in the Chinese IDN TLDs

Afilias
Following the announcement by Registry operator Afilias of its first new gTLD to launch into Sunrise on 11 March 2014.KIM (an ancient Korean surname which means “gold”), Afilias has now announced that it is set to launch the colorful new gTLDs, .PINK, .RED, and .BLUE, as well as .SHIKSHA, and its first IDN, . (“Yí Dòng”), which is Chinese for “mobile”:

During the Sunrise period, trademark rights holders may register their domain names on a first-come, first served basis, provided that the term applied for is in the TMCH. Domains registered during General Availability will be available to everyone on a first-come, first served basis.

.LONDON
Dot London Domains Limited has announced that its new gTLD for .LONDON is set to launch on 29 April 2014. During the first three months of the launch period strict priority to .LONDON domains will be given to rights holders and Londoners. The priority will be applied in the following order:

  1. Trademark rights holders, provided that the term applied for is in the TMCH
  2. London organizations and businesses who can demonstrate rights to a name, such as registered or unregistered trademarks and registered company names (with a physical address in the City of London or any of the 32 boroughs)
  3. Anyone from London, companies and individuals, can apply for any name, including personal names and generic words (with a physical address in the City of London or any of the 32 boroughs)
  4. Applications from those without a presence in London.

Multiple applications for the same domain within the same priority category will result in an auction. There will be a validation process to determine whether domain applicants meet their priority criteria. Following the initial three-month launch period, domains under .LONDON will be available for registration on a first-come, first-served basis.
