CORE
Registry operator CORE has announced the start of its pre-Launch Phase Pioneer Program for its Cyrillic script gTLDs .САЙТ (web site) and .ОНЛАЙН (online). The Pioneer Program, which will run until December 30, will allow 90 applicants for each TLD to choose premium domain names and use them before anybody else.

The second-level domains in Cyrillic script must be identical to either a trademark in Cyrillic script registered in Belarus, Bulgaria, Russia, Ukraine, and/or as a EU CTM, or be the name of a Public Authority, Public Services, a Geographical name, or a well-known public figure or celebrity in an area where Cyrillic script is used. Applicants must be able to announce their working website, partially or fully in Cyrillic script, within one month of signing the Pioneer agreement.

Furthermore, CORE has now announced its launch date for .САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН (pending ICANN’s approval): There will be one single 60-day end-date Launch Phase for five Categories, to open on January 16, 2014, running through March 19, 2014. General Availability will begin on March 25, 2014.

During this period, five types of applications will be accepted simultaneously: four for registrants with prior rights and one for applicants without priority rights (Landrush), with domains being allocated at the end of the launch phase according to the hierarchy of priority status of each category as follows:

Application Category
Priority 1: Public Administrations Launch Program – top-priority launch program for certain names of Public Administrations in the areas using Cyrillic alphabet.
Priority 2: End-Date Sunrise Period – for TMCH-validated marks in Cyrillic script.
Priority 3: Additional Trademark Limited Registration Period – for trademarks in Cyrillic script registered in the OHIM, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Russia, Serbia and/or Ukraine.
Priority 4: Transliteration Limited Registration Period – for transliteration or transcription of Latin-script TMCH-validated marks into Cyrillic-script labels.
No Priority: Landrush – for registrants without priority rights.

.UNO is a new top level domain extension designed for over 490 million Spanish speakers worldwide and those, such as Brands, who wish to connect with them. .UNO will be used as a standard Internet naming conventions for Spanish websites. An example of this would be (English) and Spanish. Today, there isn’t a standard naming convention to target and reach this market with over $1.2 Trillion annually in spending power. .UNO is well positioned to help Brands overcome naming convention, subjection to foreign jurisdictional issues, and SEO barriers that exist today by using country code top level domains such as .mx, .es, .com.br, .com.ar, etc.
