Update: Blue Ivy Carter’s Trademark Application Moving Ahead

by T+B Blog Team on January 29, 2013

While the heated debate continues regarding whether Beyoncé lip-synched the U.S. national anthem at Barack Obama’s Presidential Inauguration, we’d like to focus on the status of the trademark registration for her daughter’s name.

Yes, despite earlier news reports (including our own post, Time, Fox News Boston, and Rolling Stone) that Beyoncé and husband Jay-Z were denied a trademark registration for baby Blue Ivy’s name, The Washington Post reported that the USPTO posted a notice that the Carter’s trademark application faces no opposition. Since it’s moving forward, what’s next? The family will no doubt prove over the next three years that they are using the trademark for the reasons outlined in the application (clothing, strollers, key chains, etc.)

A belated “Happy Birthday!” to little Blue Ivy, who just celebrated her first birthday on January 7th.
