The first sale of the now-defunct Hostess Brands, which shut down operations last November is about to happen. Flowers Foods, Inc. bid a total of $390 million for six Hostess bread brands, including Wonder, Nature’s Pride, Butternut, Home Pride, Merita and Beefsteak. The company is already the maker of the Nature’s Own breads, along with Tastykake baked goods. Also included in the buy-out are 20 bakeries and other Hostess assets.
What’s going on with Twinkies, Ho Ho’s, Ding Dongs, etc.? The New York Times’ DealB%k reported that the remaining Hostess brands “will be auctioned off separately, and have drawn interest from scores of potential bidders. That sounds like we’ll be bringing you a brand auction update in the coming weeks.
