Is aging a good thing? With some brands, it is! Or, we should say, “It can be.” Most well executed brand anniversaries feature not only past achievements, they combine brand history with a strong focus on continued success in the future.

As the year soon comes to a close, let’s take a look back at some of the major brands that celebrated milestones in 2012:

The company asked customers to “Celebrate the kid inside” and share Oreo moments from their lives.

175th anniversary of Tiffany

It’s hard to imagine that it was 1837 when Tiffany first opened its doors in New York. The company’s Tiffany 1837™ jewelry line marks its anniversary.

75 years of SPAM

The canned meat brand celebrated its 75th anniversary with a slew of social media campaigns, including an interactive Facebook quiz.

Happy 60th birthday Holiday Inn

The hotel chain celebrated its long line of “firsts” (first hotel brand to offer a pool, a restaurant, a lounge, free ice, online booking, and more) and asked customers to submit their own “firsts” in pictures.

100th anniversary of Life-Savers

Life-savers’ 100th anniversary events included a philanthropic element, called Connect for a Cause, focusing on “100 years of sharing.”

French fashion house Chloé celebrates 60 years

“The Alphabet” campaign used each letter of the alphabet as inspiration for 26 short films featuring Chloé images, past campaigns, music, and editorials.

Ray-Ban turned 75

Ray-Ban’s 75th anniversary-inspired “Never Hide” videos went viral, along with one created to celebrate the milestone of 5 million Facebook fans.
