Nissan Bringing Datsun Brand Back

by T+B Blog Team on March 28, 2012

Last week’s blog post about the revival of the “choice of a new generation” trademark brought our attention to the planned revival of the Datsun brand name. For those of you old enough to remember, automaker Nissan Motor Company sold cars in the US under the Datsun brand until 1986. The name “Datsun” was an acronym of the company’s partners’ surnames.

Nissan announced that the Datsun name will be used on low-cost cars that will be sold in Indonesia, Russia, and India, beginning in 2014. The company’s press release said: “Datsun will provide sustainable motoring experience to optimistic up-and-coming customers in high-growth markets.” Take a look at the brand’s new logo:

Which past car brand would you like to see revived?
