We couldn’t let this week pass by without acknowledging another Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week wrapping up in New York and telling you about another fashion-related trademark case.
A U.S. District Court judge rejected Guess?, Inc.’s bid for a dismissal of a trademark infringement suit brought by Gucci back in 2009. Gucci, part of the PPR Luxury Group, claimed that Guess? was copying six of its designs, including the “Square G” and “Quattro G.” In the suit, Gucci seeks an accounting of Guess? profits on the copycat products, along with $26 million in damages. Now Gucci’s trademark infringement suit will move forward.
