Want the 411 on brewing company Anheuser-Busch In-Bev’s latest trademark filings? Just a few months after purchasing Chicago-based Goose Island Brewery, makers of a beer called 312 Urban Wheat Ale, Anheuser-Busch has filed trademark registrations for several 3-digit numbers.
What do the numbers signify? Well, 312 is Chicago’s main area code and locals there refer to 312 Urban Wheat Ale as just “312.” Media reports surmise that these new trademark registrations relate to the area codes of other major U.S. cities. The company registered 15 numerical character marks on May 20, 2011 in International Class 32 (beer), shown below with the city they relate to:
412 Pittsburgh, PA
305 Miami, FL
619 San Diego, CA
202 Washington, DC
602 Phoenix, AZ
704 Charlotte, NC
702 Las Vegas, NV
214 Dallas, TX
415 San Francisco, CA
216 Cleveland, OH
303 Denver, CO
615 Nashville, TN
713 Houston, TX
215 Philadelphia, PA
314 St. Louis, MO
