Update on the “Cake Boss” Trademark

Everyone gets to keep the “Cake Boss” name in a confidential agreement reached between cable TV’s The Learning Channel and Masters Software, Inc., the company that sells CakeBoss business software.

TLC’s Cake Boss, featuring Buddy Valastro of Carlo’s Bakery in Hoboken, NJ, had been temporarily barred from using the name after a challenge from Masters Software. The business management software for bakers called “CakeBoss” has been available since 2007—two years before “Cake Boss” made its television debut. Read the original T + B post here.
