Failed Trademark Attempt by Jersey Shore’s Snooki; Additional Filings Still Pending

After news hit the Internet of MTV’s “Jersey Shore” cast member Nicole Polizzi’s failed attempt to register her nickname, “Snooki,” in Class 16 (books), Trademarks + Brands did some research of its own and found 3 additional trademark applications filed on behalf of Polizzi:

*Snook A-Like – classes 9 (sunglasses and cell phone accessories) and 25 (clothing)

*I Snook the Night – classes 21 (shot glasses, cups, etc.) and 25 (clothing)

*And finally, our favorite, perhaps a tribute to her famous “pouf” (her hairstyle that she says was inspired by “other Guidettes”)—Snooki has applied to register Snookit in class 3 (hair shampoo, conditioner, gel, hairspray and self-tanner). Take a look at this Corsearch Advantage record for Snookit:

Update: There’s another Snooki-related trademark application pending that we left out of our original post. Polizzi’s also applied for “Snookin for Love” in classes 16 (printed matter, namely books) and 41 (entertainment services through the medium of television and radio; television show productions).

Snooki’s attempt to register a trademark in Class 16 (books) failed because of likelihood of confusion with a children’s book entitled “Adventures of Snooky,” registered in 2004. “Adventures of Snooky” features a cat who gets knocked overboard during a fishing trip. Here’s the unlikely duo side-by-side:
