Are You Tweeting About Your Brand?

by T+B Blog Team on July 28, 2010

An article in Ad Age this week, points to a new study by digital agency 360i that notes the surprisingly low number of Twitter conversations about major brands. The analysis of six months of Twitter traffic found that only 10% of messages come from businesses themselves and only 12% mention a brand. And, of those brand mentions, most of them were about Twitter itself.

With more than 100 million users and 65 million daily tweets, what brands are being mentioned on Twitter? The most frequently mentioned are, in descending order: Twitter, Apple, Google, YouTube, Microsoft, Blackberry, Amazon, Facebook, Snuggie, eBay and Starbucks. Perhaps surprisingly, Snuggie was mentioned in 2% of all conversations. Snuggie—The Blanket With Sleeves™—currently has 660 Twitter followers. Starbucks has just under one million Twitter followers.
